Family and Matrimonial Law

At Whiteman Osterman & Hanna, our matrimonial attorneys are active in negotiating and litigating divorce, separation, premarital agreements, property divisions, child support, spousal support, custody, and adoption. They combine extensive experience with the personal sensitivity necessary in these matters.

Michelle L. Haskin's active practice encompasses a 25-year background in all aspects of litigation and negotiation in the areas of divorce and separation, as well as a practice in Family Court custody, support, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and domestic violence cases. Ms. Haskin has many years of experience in both successfully negotiating as well as litigating cases to completion in Supreme and Family Court.

April M. Dalbec is a seasoned negotiator, litigator and trial attorney with 20 years of extensive litigation and trial experience. Ms. Dalbec serves her clients in the drafting of prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements, negotiating and litigating all aspects of divorce, separation, custody, and child support matters. Ms. Dalbec has particular experience in domestic violence matters given her criminal law background. Ms. Dalbec continues to represent clients in serious personal injury cases.

Rochelle Cavanagh is a partner with the Family and Matrimonial Law Practice Group practicing exclusively in Family and Matrimonial law for over a decade.  Ms. Cavanagh has extensive experience in almost every type of Family Law matter, including, divorce, child support, custody, domestic violence, adoption, guardianship and appeals. 

Samantha Choppa is an associate with the Family and Matrimonial Law Practice Group joining the Firm in 2020.  Ms. Choppa is admitted to practice in the State of New York and New Jersey.

Brian Palamar is an associate with the Family and Matrimonial Law Practice Group joining the Firm in 2022. Mr. Palamar is admitted to practice in the State of New York.

Tori Deyo is an associate with the Family and Matrimonial Law Practice Group joining the Firm in 2022. Ms. Deyo is admitted to practice in the State of New York.

The Family and Matrimonial Law Department also has paralegal assistants and staff who combine many years of knowledge with the ability to deal with the complex and sensitive issues of divorce, separation, custody, and support.

In addition to being experienced negotiators and litigators, our matrimonial attorneys are knowledgeable in other areas that are vital to an economically fair divorce. The breadth and depth of practice areas served by Whiteman Osterman & Hanna enables our family law attorneys to draw upon the knowledge of other attorneys within the Firm, whenever estate and business issues become complex.
