Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP is pleased to announce that Jason R. Thomas has joined the Firm as an Associate in the Environmental, Land Use and Development, and Real Estate Practice Groups. Mr. Thomas brings experience in public sector work, regulatory analysis, and complex land use and environmental matters that strengthens the Firm’s ability to guide clients through sophisticated development and real estate projects across New York State.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Thomas ran a boutique pro bono practice assisting individuals who recently arrived in the United States and were in need of legal support, and he remains an active volunteer throughout the City of Albany. His background also includes service as an Excelsior Fellow with the New York State Department of Financial Services Health Bureau and as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Albany, providing him with a strong foundation in government operations and regulatory processes.
Mr. Thomas earned his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School, where he served as a research assistant, worked in the school’s immigration law clinic, and interned with the Center for Internet Security, among other roles. He graduated magna cum laude from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2019 and also earned his Master of Arts from Stony Brook University while completing his undergraduate degree.
Mr. Thomas is admitted to practice in New York State and in the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Outside of his legal practice, Jason enjoys hiking, photography, music, and software development.
