Whiteman Osterman & Hanna has been selected to receive the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York’s 2023 “Justice for All Award” to be presented during LASNNY’s 100th anniversary celebration, Justice for All: Striving for a Fair and Equitable World, which kicks off on Sept. 7. 

The award recognizes the exceptional commitment to civil legal services and to LASNNY by a law firm demonstrated by its pro bono service, technical assistance, volunteerism, mentorship, training/CLE, and program or financial support.

“Whiteman Osterman & Hanna is humbled by this award. For many years, we have made the decision to support the important work of LASNNY by contributing on behalf of each of our attorneys. Those contributions are our commitment to the impact that LASNNY has on our community, every day,” said Robert Schofield, the firm’s managing partner.

LASNNY provides free civil legal aid to low-income upstate New Yorkers. Its mission is to fight for fairness, dignity, and justice for those living in poverty and for a society that is inclusive and equitable for all. 

"I went to law school to help close the gap in access to justice––a gap I've been personally impacted by," said Nic Rangel, Esq., executive director of LASNNY. "I now have the honor of serving among incredibly hardworking and passionate people to bring civil legal services to many of the state's lowest income communities. I am proud to be part of LASNNY's long history, and take us into the next century, to serve more people in need to further close that gap."
