WHITEMAN OSTERMAN & HANNA LLP ANNOUNCES NEW OF COUNSEL

Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP, the Capital Region’s largest law firm, announced James L. Simpson has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the Environmental and Land Use Practice Group. 

Prior to joining Whiteman Osterman & Hanna, Simpson was an Assistant Counsel for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in Region 2, where he was chief of the remediation section. At DEC, Simpson enforced New York State environmental laws, led legal matters for brownfield and superfund sites, and worked with the New York Attorney General’s office on civil enforcement cases. Previously, he was an Assistant Regional Counsel with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 2, where he worked on Clean Air Act issues and assisted with prosecution of environmental crimes. 

Simpson holds a Bachelor of Arts in American history and organizational behavior from the University of Michigan. He graduated with honors from Vermont Law School in 1999 with his Juris Doctor and earned his Master of Law (LLM) in Environmental Law from Pace University School of Law in 2007.
