Remembering Richard P. Walsh, Jr. 1943 - 2021
Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP sadly announces the passing of Richard P. Walsh, Jr., Of Counsel. Dick was our colleague, our friend, and a gentleman to all who knew him.
Dick was a well-known lawyer who focused his practice in the field of labor and employment law and litigation. He argued various precedent-setting labor law decisions in both the N.Y. Court of Appeals and the Second Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals, including many of the early decisions establishing the implementation of New York‘s Taylor Law. Dick had extensive experience in a wide variety of other fields, including business litigation, civil rights (he argued a case involving the U.S. Rugby Team, all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States), and the defense of a corporation and its officers in the first criminal prosecution under newly enacted N.Y.S. Environmental Law felony statutes.
Our Firm was a better place for having the privilege of Dick’s presence and he will be greatly missed by his Whiteman Osterman & Hanna family.
