Matthew D. Mosdell
Matthew Mosdell joined Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP in March 2026 as an associate in the Litigation and Appeals practice group. With a robust understanding of the law and the skills required to craft arguments that move those interests forward, he seeks to effectively and efficiently litigate disputes to their conclusion.
Prior to joining WOH, Mr. Mosdell worked for New York’s Appellate Division, Third Department. His experience there gave him the opportunity to concentrate on legal issues of virtually every type, as he was tasked with providing Appellate Justices with an initial report recommending how the civil, criminal and family disputes before them should be resolved. As his interests narrowed toward civil disputes, he frequently dealt with appeals arising out of disagreements over taxation, personal injuries, business transactions, commercial litigation, foreclosure, medical malpractice, wrongful death, contested estates, and Article 78 Proceedings. As a practicing attorney, he uses these skills to deliver exemplary results for clients.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Mosdell worked as an academic, teaching philosophy at SUNY Albany, Florida International University, and the University of Utah. He also worked briefly as a geologist for a phosphate mine on the border of Wyoming and Idaho. The diversity of his experiences gives him the insight and background needed to appreciate the panoply of issues that can lead to legal conflict and how those conflicts can best be resolved.
