William Clancy joined Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP in November 2025, after previously serving as a Summer Associate with the Firm. He is a member of the Corporate Practice Group, where he focuses on mergers and acquisitions, with particular emphasis on transactional due diligence and deal support.

Mr. Clancy is admitted to practice in New York State.

Mr. Clancy earned his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School, where he was actively engaged in public service and national security–focused initiatives. At Yale, he represented individual veterans and supported class-action advocacy as a member of the Veterans Legal Services Clinic. He also served as a board member of the Yale Law National Security Group, worked as a research assistant on AI-driven legal research initiatives, and externed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut in New Haven.

Mr. Clancy holds a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, and a Master of Business Administration from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont.

Prior to law school, Mr. Clancy retired from the United States Army Special Forces after a distinguished career, achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He is a veteran of multiple combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, bringing extensive leadership, operational, and risk-management experience to his legal practice.

Mr. Clancy is originally from Saratoga County and currently resides in Schoharie, New York, with his wife and son.
