Dennis D. Curtin is a partner based in the Plattsburgh office. Mr. Curtin concentrates his practice in Labor and Employment; Education; Business, Corporate and Commercial; Estate Planning and Administration; and Real Estate Development, Zoning and Land Use Practice Groups. Mr. Curtin recently served as President of Octapharma Plasma, Inc. Previously, Mr. Curtin was a founding partner of Stafford, Owens, Curtin & Trombley in Plattsburgh, and the County Attorney for Clinton County.
Representative Accomplishments
- Selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America in the area of Commercial Litigation.
- Served as President of Octapharma Plasma, Inc., a 1,600 employee corporation operating 45 blood plasma collection centers located throughout the United States.
- Negotiated and managed a contract for the development of 34 FDA licensed plasma collection centers throughout the United States.
- Negotiated global supply chain contracts for supplies, medical testing, and automation services.
- Represented numerous school districts in all aspects of school law, including protracted Section 3020-a and Section 75 disciplinary proceedings.
- Responsible for the development and local permitting of a 240 kilowatt power plant and associated natural gas pipeline and electric transmission lines, resulting in $420 million in project financing.
- Represented shopping mall developers in SEQRA review and land use permitting for new malls and expansions of existing malls.
- Site acquisition and permitting of cellular telephone facilities throughout the Adirondack Park.
- Successfully negotiated a peaceful resolution to an 11 day armed stand-off between the Ganienkeh Mohawk Indians and the FBI and State Police after an Air National Guard helicopter was shot down and a doctor on board wounded.
Affiliations
Mr. Curtin is a member of the Board of Directors of the Adirondack Area Network, a not-for-profit provider of telecommunication services, such as Internet and videoconferencing, distance learning and telemedicine, to educational organizations and hospitals.
Background
Mr. Curtin received a Masters of Law in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C.; a J.D., magna cum laude, from New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts; and a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from Union College.
